Fanbase, rejoice! The surge of live streaming and the booming “creator economy” is fueling a wave of excitement across social media app usage, reshaping the digital landscape as we know it, revealed in a recent study.
In just this year, social media users have eagerly downloaded over 9.2 billion apps and are projected to invest a staggering 740 billion hours engaging with them. Among these hours, an impressive 548 billion are dedicated to live streaming content, according to insights from mobile data authority, App Annie, in its latest “The Evolution of Social Media Report” released this week.
Further insights from the report indicate that this year’s app usage is set to surpass the previous year’s record of nearly 800 billion hours, largely propelled by increased mobile and device utilization spurred by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as disclosed by App Annie executives to USA TODAY.
