Like whispering through the wind, the sound of the eponymous “shadowbanning” is well named. Never are you given a warning and before you know it, you are cutt off from the rest of the waking world.

If you don’t know what “shadowbanning” is, allow me to explain. An unofficial term, “shadowbanning,” is when a social media application reduces the reach of your content by limiting the visibility of it.

So in other words, if you have 5 million followers, only 500,000 will potentially see it.

Shadowbanning is not a thing. If someone follows you on Instagram, your photos and videos can show up in their feed if they keep using the feed. Being in Explore is not guaranteed for anyone. Sometimes you’ll get lucky, sometimes you won’t.”Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram said.

You can directly see that you are shadowbanned and if you have a business account, then you have the evidence in hand.

Imagine that you are a content creator who has curated their following over years to suddenly have their reach dwindled, their audience cut, and potentially their welfare taken away. This is all before even talking about a creator trying to branch out to a new audience, the stress, and the anxiety of having to deal with paranoia

Shadowbanning can be triggered by

However, these five actions are rumored to significantly increase your likelihood of being penalized:

  1. Infringing on Instagram’s Community Guidelines or posting offensive content This includes posts containing violence, sexually explicit content, and misinformation.
  2. Paying for likes or comments, using bots to increase followers, and participating in engagement pods are all examples of fake engagements.
  3. Spammy activity, for instance, using over 30 hashtags in a single post.
  4. Mentioning competitors.

I can’t stress enough how important an audience is to a creator. Never should your voice be stifled and at Fanbase, we understand that. So with that in mind, we do not have an algorithm and your following is YOURS! We will not set you up for failure and want you to put out your best work.

So we will see you on Fanbase.
